Here are some of the fine blues bands and performers who have joined the Blues Collaborative.

Barrelhouse Blues Band
The Barrelhouse Blues Band is a staple in the Delaware Blues scene with a strong and loyal following. With a philosophy based on relating to and interacting with the crowd, the band creates a scene that fully engages its fellow 'Hooligans' through great music, dancing, and completely unpredictable song introductions. Barrelhouse is 'Choo Choo' Charlie Rickner (lead vocals/harmonica/on stage antics), Joe Antonio (drums), Chris Miller (bass), and Tommy Noland (guitar/vocals). They all hail from the Middletown-Dover-Bear area with strong roots in Delaware and Maryland. In addition to their frequent local appearances, the band can be found in the Delaware beach music scene in the Summer and Fall.
Blue Jay Slim and the Tone Blasters
Blue Jay Slim and The Tone Blasters plays hot rockin blues in the vein of Albert King, Stevie Ray Vaughan, and Buddy Guy. The lineup for this blues trio includes Blue Jay Slim on Guitar and Vocals, Kenny-Boy Githens on Fender Bass, and Russ Joell on Drums.
Blue Plate Specials
The Blue Plate Specials are a new project consisting of some of the most seasoned musicians in the Philly area and beyond; the members having played more gigs in more bands than could be listed. Most of the songs are BPS originals, and the band covers all facets of the Blues from 'Nawlins to Gutbucket, Back Porch Country, Chicago to Texas, with an emphasis on Uptown Jump and Swing. The arrangements are hot and tight and the band is cooler than the other side of the pillow. People DANCE at Blue Plate Specials Shows. Afterwards, babies are conceived. The Blue Plate Specials are Charlie Frey on Guitar, Vocals, chief songwriter; Walter Beier on Saxes; Ken 'Bernie' Bernardo on Bass; Alan Sheltzer on Keys; and Ted Hordeski on Drums.
Blues City Blues Band
The Blues City Blues Band is a rockin' kick butt guitar and vocal driven blues band from the Reading PA area. Formed in early 2006 the band performs original music as well as your favorite blues covers.
Bluestime…the name says it all. House rockin, high energy, electric blues that will make you move and make you groove. Bluestime brings the Blues into the 21st century with timeless songs that speak to Our Blues…Now! The band line-up includes Andrew Orliner on vocals and guitar, Bobby C on guitar, Chicago Steve on drums, and Wes Kelley on bass.
Dave Mell Blues Band
The Dave Mell Blues band plays its own intense style of rockin' blues. Fans throughout eastern Pennsylvania have enjoyed the band's blues stylings featuring Dave's smoking guitar for years. Dave and Ellen Mell take turns handling all of the lead vocals. In addition, many other talented musicians from the eastern Pennsylvania area provide their support the duo both instrumentally and with backing vocals.
Dave Orban and the Mojo Gypsies
The Mojo Gypsies have been bringing a unique blend of up-tempo blues and old-school R&B to the greater Philly area since 1998. The band’s music integrates many influences from the greater blues tradition – from Chicago and West Coast electric blues to southern country blues and even New Orleans-styled marches. With a repertoire that shines a light on lesser-known but compelling tunes from the pioneers of the blues form, the band looks to impart a contemporary feel to a traditional form, while not departing drastically from the foundational elements of this type of music. The band is led by founder Dave Orban on guitar and vocals and features Mike Scott on tenor sax and vocals, along with Dave Young on the upright and electric bass, while Mark Shewchuk keeps the groove goin’, on drums and percussion.
Dukes of Destiny
The Dukes of Destiny, Philadelphia's best loved and longest lived blues and old school soul band, have been together for over 27 years, producing their own style of rocking blues and old school r'n&b. With a lineup of songs that include their unique arrangements of blues standards and heartfelt originals, the Dukes have recorded 4 CD's that have received wide critical acclaim. They have performed in a variety of venues, including clubs, festivals, concerts, and private events. The Dukes have also opened for acts such as John Mayall, Charlie Musselwhite, Gatemouth Brown and Savoy Brown, and they served as the backup band for Terry Evans and legendary guitarist Otis Rush at performances in New York and Philadelphia. The Dukes have also played at swing dance events in Washington, DC; New York City, NY; Philadelphia, PA; and Princeton, NJ.The Dukes are John Colgan-Davis, vocals and harmonica; CC, sax and vocals; Rich Curtis, bass and vocals, A.C. Steel, guitar and vocals; Bob Holden, drums and vocals; the legendary Chicago Carl Snyder on keyboards, and Arlyn Wolters on vocals.
Dutch's Basement Blues Band
Dutch's Basement Blues Band is a band comprised of long-time professional musicians driven by the gravel-voiced Dutchman's harmonica. When they were not touring or playing gigs with other bands they got together to jam in the basement at Dutchman's house. The combination worked out so well they formed a band to bring their music to you. New material emerges every time they get together to rehearse making the live performances fresh and constantly evolving the show.
Georgie Bonds
Georgie Bonds is one of the premier blues singers to come from the Philadelphia area. It's been said of Georgie that he's 'a man who's voice has the power to shake the walls...yet also has the smooth gentle warmth characteristic of the finest balladeers.' He's performed with nearly every one of today's blues greats and has performed on Broadway. His CD, 'Sometimes I Wonder,' establishes Georgie not only as a world class blue singer but a world class songwriter as well. His performances are always a treat and, if you're a blues fan, shouldn't be missed.
James Day and the Fish Fry
James Day and the Fish Fry have been playing "Jump Blues and New Orleans Grooves" all over the East Coast for 15 years. The band is signed to the Vizztone Record Label and two of their CD's have charted on Living Blues. They twice won the right to participate in the International Blues Challenge in Memphis. The band has played many festivals in the region, including the Angelsea Blues Festival, the New York State Blues Festival, and the Riverfront Blues Festival. The band lineup includes James Day on vocals and harmonica; Ron Baldwin on piano, organ, and accordion; Greg Snyder on guitar; Dave Young on baritone & bass guitar; John Merigliano on drums; and Walter Bechtold baritone & tenor saxophone.
Johnny Never
Johnny Never and the Solar Pimps is a unique all-acoustic blues band featuring soul searing dueling standard and slide guitars and the authentic sounds of Delta, Piedmont and East Texas blues! Johnny Never and the Solar Pimps have the heart and soul of the old southern blues and contemporary appeal of an all acoustic sound that strikes listeners as both unique and familiar and always entertaining!
Kitty Mayo and the Emperess Band
Kitty is a Singer-Songwriter who lives in Delaware, writing, arranging, producing and performs in the Wilmington, Philadelphia, Harrisburg area and at various music festivals, as well as a notable vocal coach. She is a crossover artist, singing Blues, Jazz, Rock, Pop. The Kitty Mayo and The Emperess Band can vary from a two piece, with Kitty on vocals and an accompanist, to a six piece band, depending on the need or size of the venue.
Little Red Rooster Blues Band
Since their formation in 1988, they have become one of the Delaware Valley's premier blues bands, consistently delivering their own brand of blues, always combined with a crowd-pleasing, high-energy performance and a whole lot of fun. The band has built a community of friends and fans of the blues, one that cannot be matched! They have performed at clubs and festivals throughout the United States, and have even toured Europe on multiple occasions. To date, they have released 7 CDs of original material, all of which were widely acclaimed by critics and fans alike! In February of 2015, the band was inducted into the International Blues Hall of Fame. In 2018, the band released "Lock Up The Liquor" which reached the top 25 Living Blues Radio Charts. Their passion and respect for the music, along with their ability to fully engage their audiences, virtually guarantees a phenomenal live blues experience.
Mike Guldin and Rollin' & Tumblin'
Mike started playing guitar and singing at age 16, inspired and influenced by blues legends Muddy Waters, Howlin Wolf, Albert Collins, B.B. King as well as more contemporary artists such as the Allman Bros, Eric Clapton, Stevie Ray Vaughn and the Rolling Stones. Having honed his craft playing in roadhouses, clubs, and bars for the last 20 years, his approach is that of a journeyman. Stinging guitar and soulful vocals are second nature for Guldin who has had the opportunity to open up for such acts as Sam and Dave, Molly Hatchet and Roy Buchanan. The Rollin' & Tumblin' includes Mike on guitar and vocals, C.J. Clark on bass, Tim Hooper on keys, Alan Howe on guitar, and Matt McNally on drums. All of Mike's influences and experiences come together in the original tunes of his new release 'Caught Between the Blues and a Heartache'. Combined with the raucous backing sounds of Rollin' & Tumblin', these inspirations are fully realized.
Nate Myers and the Aces
Nate Myers and the Aces are based out of Harrisburg, PA. Lead by vocalist Nate Myers and his harmonica, the band creates a loose, casual atmosphere in which everyone can relax and have a good time! Whether the audience prefers to sit back and listen or get up and 'shake that thang,' there is something for everyone. On a typical evening, audiences can hear influences from many forms of American music - blues, funk, hip hop, rockabilly, country and improvisation. Nate Myers and The Aces take all these styles they love and weave them into a tapestry of their own.
New Pony
New Pony is a rock-solid, innovative quartet that has established their reputation throughout the tri-state area as a solid, groove oriented blues and funk band. Through a mixture of original songs and covers by the likes of Professor Longhair, The Meters, Dr. John, the band has forged a connection with the lively music and soul of New Orleans. Add in a dose of delta grit, and what you have is one of the most unique blues bands in the tri-state region. The funky rhythm section of Max Guerin (bass) and Stefan Young (drums) creates a pocket so deep you could sit in there for days; add to that the interplay of Scott Coulter's keyboards and Chris Devenney on guitar.
Nick Trill and the Thrillseekers
Nick Trill brought his tone-dripping harmonica and great vocals up from Florida and created an outstanding classic electric Blues band. In addition to Nick on harp and vocals, the band line-up includes Sir Dean Shot (guitar), Iron Mike Lampe (bass) and Kenneth Robinson (drums).
Papa Sez
PAPA SEZ (formerly The All-stars) is a Philly area based blues band founded over 35 years ago with members Rick Valenti, Fred Berman, Jay Davidson, John Gilson and Rick Prince. They've been laying down authentic Chicago blues with a big fat Philly swagger since the 80's. The members have lent their talents to live shows and recordings from Taj Mahal, Whitney Houston, Amos Lee, The Funk Brothers, Bon Jovi, Steve Winwood, Cinderella and countless others from all genres of music. But Papa Sez has always called them home again.
Roger Girke Band
The Roger Girke Band's artistry has been validated with many positive critical reviews and a number of industry awards. The 2004 CD release 'My Baby Loves That Stuff' won an esteemed 'Top 5 Self-Produced CD' award in the 2005 International Blues Challenge and their 2008 CD release 'Shake It' was awarded a 'Top 6 Self-Produced CD' award in the 2009 International Blues Challenge. Also in 2009, from over 100 competitors, The Roger Girke Band was a top 10 live finalist in the International Blues Challenge in Memphis, TN. Roger and his talented band continue to evolve each year with a solid mix of contemporary and traditional blues. The band's live performances feature strong original songs, combined with eclectic covers and energized performances anchored by Roger's strong vocals and guitar playing.
Scoville Blues
Scoville Blues are a 5 piece blues band based out of Bucks County PA. Blending traditional and contemporary blues with rock, jazz and soul, the band plays both covers and originals. They have been playing the Philadelphia Tri-State area since 2006. The seasoned musicians who make up the band include Dave Piersig on lead vocals, Charlie 'Clean Hands' Cappello on guitar, Bill Hubbard on bass, Dave Badgley on harp, and Jim Bowman on drums. With scorching guitar, dynamic harmonica and a driving rhythm section to back there passionate vocals....Scoville Blues delivers the message!
Sister Blue
A Philly native, Sister Blue fronts a driving blues band, with powerful vocals and stinging guitar leads. For variety, Sister Blue also leads an acoustic duo, playing blues and ragtime, including renditions of her favorite Bessie Smith songs, as well as compostions of her own. As one reviewer put it,"[S]he growls in a low-down Janis Joplinish voice and coaxes from a guitar that bellies up to her like a dog who knows who’s in charge."
Slim and the Perkolators
Slim and the Perkolators were born from the union of an experienced blues guitar and young harmonica player, all looking to start their own project. That union led to the formation of Slim and the Perkolators one of the busiest and hardest working bands in the Philadelphia Area. The lineup consists of Derek Matteson aka Slim on harp and vox, PA Blues hall of fame guitar player Tim "The Perkolator" Perks on guitar and vox, and a cycle of players from the best rhythm sections in the Philadelphia area. Members of the rhythm sections are Mike Lampe, Flourtown Fats, Jimmy Pritchard and Randon Bassman on bass, and Sean Mcintyre, Scott Stump, Mark Shewchuk, and Ira Kaye on drums. Come to a show and see what the fuss is all about!
Sterling Koch
Sterling Koch is a nationally recognized lap steel guitarist who is a touring/recording artist and session musician. Sterling specializes in playing traditional blues in a contemporary style on the lap steel guitar. He has recorded 2 solo CDs of steel guitar music as well as having toured and recorded with blues bands for the past 10 years. He has had the support of the legendary steel guitarist Calvin Cooke (mentor to Robert Randolph) when first starting on steel guitar and now can claim 'steelers' Darick Campbell (The Campbell Brothers) and Aubrey Ghent as friends and mentors.
Stevie and the Bluescasters
Stevie and the Bluescasters (Stephanie/Stevie Nolan, Seth AKA Zep Harpo and Paul Nolan) is an acoustic (plugged in) three-piece blues band from Philadelphia specializing in arrangements of Chicago, Delta, Piedmont, Texas, pre-war and country blues as well as old Gospel, old Country and a half-pint of R&B. They sometimes include International "Blues", sung in Portuguese, Spanish and Irish. Our set consists of a variety of vocals, guitars, National Steel/Resonator, mandolin, harmonica, percussion and even yodeling! The band has opened for or shared the stage with many legendary artists including Muddy Waters, Roomful of Blues, Ronnie Earl, Magic Slim, Koko Taylor, Ana Popovic, Shemekia Copeland, Tab Benoit, etc. and have played at various festivals (State Street Blues Stroll, Riverfront Blues Festival (DE) Riverhead Blues Festival (NY) etc. as well as numerous clubs, venues, theaters (Sellersville, Vail-Leavitt, Rittenhouse Soundworks,etc.) throughout the tri-state area and many sold-out House Concerts. The BC Combo
The BC Combo brings their wealth of experience and passion to Blues, Jazz, Swing, Folk, R&B, Soul and more. The list of who's who continues from their stage performances with Ray Charles, Koko Taylor, Ronnie Earl, Shemekia Copeland, Son Seals, Lonnie Brooks, Rhonnie Baker Brooks, Saffire, the Holmes Brothers, Carl Weathersby, Eddie King and so many more. The BC Combo is among the Lehigh Valley's top performing groups being honored since 1999 by the Lehigh Valley Music Awards. New Orleans native, Bev Conklin (BC),  has an extraordinary compassion and grace that compliments her broad range of vocal styles and effortless power in voice. Wayne Smith on guitar and vocals, is the band leader, producer and arranger on all their material, insuring a new show experience with his influences from his icons. Pozz grooves on vocals, keys or bass with his soulful, funky delivery.  U.S. Marine, Kevin Groller, brings the steady beat on drums.  Chicago and Detroit native, Joe Mac... pours the tone and grooves on guitar.  Their motto…”It’s all about having fun!”
The Porkroll Project
The Porkroll Project, from the greater Philadelphia, PA area is hard rocking 6 piece blues band who play a high energy blend of fresh covers and originals. The music is blues, but it's done up Porkroll style. Little bit of grease, good dose of funk, whole lotta drive and grind. Throw that together with some dangerous lead guitar and harmonica, powerful organ, and rippin' piano, and you have a recipe for a night where anything can happen!
Tom Craig Band

Tom Craig is a singer, songwriter, guitar player and Blues and Roots entertainer, who's debut CD, "Get Ready for Me", has received rave reviews and radio airplay all over the world. Whether playing with a duo, trio or full band, his high energy, live performances impress even the most critical fans. Don't pass up the opportunity to catch him and his top quality band and your local venue or blues festival.

Triple Rock Blues
The Tri-State area's hardest working blues band is available for parties, private events, festivals and clubs. Featuring great blues music from legends like ...Buddy Guy,BB King, Eric Clapton, Albert King and Bonnie Raitt to future legends like Susan Tedeschi, Chris Duarte and Matt Schofield. With dual vocals and loads of talent, T.R.B.can tastefully cover a wide range from Gritty Get Down Texas blues to funky N.O.L.A to Sweet and Sultry Soul. The band lineup includes Alicia Maxwell on vocals, Carlos Corallo on bass and keys, John Sweigart on guitar and vocals, Scott Ingram on drums and vocals, and Eric Koper on piano and organ.
Venom Blues
Venom Blues was formed in late 2005 by veterans of the Delaware and Northeast music scene, who collectively, have well over a hundred years of musical experience. They were brought together by an extreme desire to rekindle the flames of the artistry known as The Blues and carry it forward to a new generation. Delaware has seen it's share of the best Blues musicians that have toured the world. Venom Blues seeks to carry on that tradition, so keep your eyes open - The Blues can strike real fast.
Voodoo DeVille
Voodoo DeVille is a six piece band working out of the Philadelphia area. The band was formed in 1998 by a group of like-minded guys who enjoyed the blues and enjoyed playing them even more. While Chicago blues is their starting point, they venture into jump, boogie woogie, early rock 'n roll, and rockabilly. If it's fun to play, then it's in the set list. According to the band, 'It's never failed - when we have fun, our audience has fun. And that's why we do it.'
Whiskey Kreek Acoustic
Whiskey Kreek Acoustic is laid back, back porch music. Come out and enjoy the blues with Tom Malafarina, Guitar and vocals; Bob Hogan, Harp, Guitar and vocals, Doug Babczak, Lead Guitar and vocals all from Berks County Pennsylvania.
